I have never seen a real Mak Yong performance before. Yet, through my readings from several articles, I get know that this musical dance-theatre has somehow faced controversies (due to religious reasons) and it is no longer allowed to be performed in Kelantan. From the Islamic point of view, Mak Yong performances which involve the 'spirit', stray from the Islamic path. Having the chance to read a short extract from the play 'In the name of Love" by Ramli Ibrahim, I believe that this play has shown that Mak Yong performance is no longer an important event in our society nowadays. In my opinion, we should appreciate this cultural heritage to make sure that it will not be forgotten in the midst of global development.

Mak Yong, the Musical dance-theatre Heritage
